How to control bipolar stepper motor using parallel port?

I learned a stepper motor of the read head of the CD ROM. Controls linear motion of the head. But can any body help me teach the fundamentals of control of this engine. It has four wires and I want to fight it with parallel port. Is it possible to connect the motor with parallel port directly, without using any resistors, capacitors and transistors? Please help me I need know this for my project work ..

No, you will need some kind of driver between the port and the engine because the port can supply only a number very small current.
