what on earth has a fixed temperature, which acts on the climate?
sense, the sun warm the earth at a given temperature? climate then affects that. As coastal areas are cooler, etc? the sun is hot, so you must warm the earth to some extent? but the temp. of land depends not only Sun temperature causes? is the sun around the earth when it is hot outside?
The earth receives virtually all its heat from the sun (not heat internal heat but this is relatively small compared with the amounts received from the sun, in the absence of the sun the earth is way cooler surface). The amount of heat (energy) from the sun is not constant, though generally on the same order of magnitude as the earth does not suffer from extremely large temperature variations. Things that affect the amount of energy received include the output of the sun (varies somewhat regularly around an overall mean) and proximity (closeness) of the Earth the Sun (Earth's orbit is not a circle so it is sometimes closer and sometimes more than the year progresses). And the earth does not absorb the incoming energy in a way constant. Earth absorbs energy differently than water, and the atmosphere affects the amount of reflected radiation and the heat is maintained within the system of land (a much of the incoming solar energy is sent back into space for reflection and radiation), but cloud cover and greenhouse "gases can keep some of that energy from escaping into space. (It's a general rule that the clear skies mean more cold nights, because more energy is lost into space) These are the main global factors. There are secondary factors that affect climate in a given location is controlled. This is generally related to how the incoming heat is distributed around land through the air and water currents. Heat transfer by air and water is an important source of local climatic differences. An important effect that occurs on earth refers to the inclination of Earth's axis, which is the cause of seasonal variations. For half of the years, the northern hemisphere is more exposed to sun the southern hemisphere (and vice versa). Currently, land is at the end of its orbit when it is summer in the northern hemisphere, especially when the summer hemisphere south. This changes for thousands of years due to the rotation axis does not follow the same cycle as the earth's orbit around the sun. So, to answer questions summary, the temperature of the earth is essentially completely dependent on solar radiation and the sun closer to earth when it is summer (hot) in the southern hemisphere (But not the northern hemisphere).
Met Office projections of temperature changes due to climate change.
